Not our first visit to this fabulous, half-hidden lunch place in charming downtown Fernandina. We love how this place has a private courtyard away from the street. Order lunch at the counter and grab your drinks and a table outdoors. They'll bring your food to your table. Once again, we got some of their fabulous BBQ. It never disappoints. This visit, we ordered The Max, which is a pulled pork and pimento cheese on whole wheat bread, served with pickles and a bag of chips. We also ordered the Smoked Pulled Turkey, which is served on a soft roll with a side of pickles and a bag of chips. We also ordered a side of coleslaw and two Ice Teas for a filling and tasty lunch. I've had my eye on their BLT and might try it one of these times, but their BBQ is so good. All come with a choice of Sweet or Spicy BBQ Sauce or Mustard BBQ Sauce. The whole menu looks great and we've enjoyed their house-made cookies on another visit. Lunch only. Highly recommend.
First time and I really enjoyed it. The food was delicious. We ordered the roast beef, ham, turkey, bacon, and cheese sandwich, and the pulled pork with pimento cheese. The max and the monster club were the names and they were very delicious. I highly recommend. For the sides we had pasta salad and potato salad. Both were delicious. The pasta salad was one of the best pasta salads I've had. The dressing was very tasty. For dessert, we split a giant cookie. It was clear that everything was made in house with fresh ingredients. The service was great. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Very quaint little garden tucked away from everything else. Really pleasant. Will definitely return.
This place was an absolute gem! It was my boyfriend and I’s first time here and we will most definitely be back!! I’m not a huge sandwich person but I could personally eat one of these bad boys everyday that’s just how good and fresh it was. The atmosphere and the staff were also amazing. Definitely a must go to give it a shot!
Live local and have been here many times. I have a problem, I find something I like and I just can't get past it! That said the Monster is awesome. I look at the menu and think I will get something else but just can't seem to do it. The crew there is great and Richard is awesome. If you have never been or are here visiting, make this place a stop. Believe me you won't be sorry that you did.
We were on vacation and had the privilege to meet the owners, and dine at the Happy Tomato. Our food was delicious, served in a timely matter and the quaint atmosphere off the Main Street was very relaxing. If we are fortunate enough to visit Emelia Island we will certainly visit the Happy Tomato restaurant again. Thank you so much for serving us. Jerry and Jo Alexander
Richard is amazing! My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite, and the customer service alone was enough to make me drive 3 hours again. The pulled pork? Unreal. And don’t even get me started on the walnut chocolate chunk cookie. Absolutely worth the trip all on its own. Richard was so down to earth and welcoming. Thank you again!!
LOVE this place! Their food is extremely fresh and very good! I got the West Coast Veggie with a side of pasta salad which is 100% vegan! Richard took our order and was very nice and hilarious! The food came out within 3 minutes of us ordering. This place is such a vibe I highly recommend this!
